Ms. Linda TurkattA is
August 11, 1995
Page 2
' and xylenes (BTEX) by EPA Methods 5030/8020; and for total petroleum hydrocarbons
(TPH) as gasoline (TPH-G), as diesel (TPH-D), and as oil (TPH-O) by the California
Department of Health Services (DHS) Leaking Underground Fuel Tank (LUFT) Method.
All results were below laboratory method detection limits (Table 1). Copies of the boring
logs showing PID readings and soil types encountered are included in Attachment A. A
' copy of the laboratory analytical report is included in Attachment B.
Groundwater was encountered in each of the borings at 15 to 16 feet bgs, and rose to
' about 13 feet bgs in the HydroPunch sampler. A groundwater sample was collected from
each boring and analyzed for BTEX, TPH-G, TPH-D, TPH-O, and for halogenated
volatile organic compounds (HVOCs) using EPA Method 5030A/8010A. Groundwater
' samples collected from HP-1 and HP-2 contained toluene (12.7 and 79.3 ppb,
respectively), TPH-G (64 and 172 ppb, respectively), and TPH-D (174 and 274 ppb,
respectively; Table 1). A groundwater sample collected from HP-2 also contained TPH-O
' (368 ppb). The groundwater sample collected from HP-4 contained 715 ppb TPH-D. All
results for HVOCs were below the method detection limits (Table 1). A copy of the
laboratory analytical report is included in Attachment B.
Groundwater generated during the drilling and sampling activities supervised by EMCON
' will be properly disposed of by a California-registered waste hauler as soon as
arrangements can be made.
