The
first addendum was submitted on October 18, 1989.
Geological Technics Inc. prepared the original Work Plan and submitted it to San
Joaquin Environmental Health on October 3, 1988. Geological Technics Inc. proposes
to follow the original work plan with the addition of the following modifications: 1)
to install one monitoring well in the site's historical down gradient direction
(southwest) at a location suitable for drilling within the property's boundary (Figure
1) and 2) to modify the well construction to include the current approved methods.
MODIFICATIONS TO THE WORK PLAN
Well Construction
Geological Technics Inc. proposes to install one monitoring well (MW-4) in a down
gradient direction from existing MW-2 (Figure 2). The well will be drilled using a
10.25 outside d, meter (6.5" I.D.) continuous flight hollow stem auger. Soil cuttings
will be in the open field behind the structure. Continuous 96B cWIng
will be performed and soil samples will be collected for geological and analytical
evaluation. Soil samples will be collected in 2.0 inch brass liners using a 2.0 inch
modified California split spoon sampler. All soil samples will be sealed with
aluminum foil, capped, labeled and placed in a cooler at 4° Celsius for transport to
the laboratory following Chain of Custody protocol.
MW-4 will be constructed with 2.0 inch diameter, schedule 40 PVC casing with flush
threaded joints. The screened interval will consist of 0.020 inch perforations
extending from approximately ten feet below and five feet above the water table. A
number three sand will be used to form a filter pack about the perforations. An
annular seal will be constructed by installing 100 pounds of granular bentonite that
