It was mutually felt that,
since the regulatory agents were delaying their review of the Problem Assessment Work Plan
submitted in November of 1988,it would be advantageaus to monitor the site for ground water
gradients and contamination distribution. The following discussion summarizes our activities
and the nformation we gathered and makes recommendation for future action.
Interim Monitoring
On 19 June 1989 two of the i.ionitoring wells(MW-1&3)were developed and sampled. The
other monitor;ng well,MW-2,was developed and sampled on 28 June 1989. This well was
covered with road gravel and had to ire located by using a metal detector. laboratory
analytical data is attached. The results of the testing showed that all three wells were void
of petroleum hydrocarbons.
Water levels were measured in each well and the well tops were resurveyed to establish a
common plane between the three points. Water gradient was calculated four different tames
this summer,each about one month apart(28 June,19 July,22 August,and 12 Octol,er 1989).
Water depth measurements were taker,in all three wells within a one hour interval. This
information is shown in the attached figrres. On three of the four measuring dates gradient
ibearing was to the southwest, which is consistent with the flow direction measured in 1987.
i
w t,
-----------
'I.
