Based on PHS/EHD field notes taken on 02/19/98 during the drilling of the
GeoProbe (GP) soil borings, and the heed for analytical data in order to perform mass balance
calculations before closure can be considered, PHS/EHD recommends the soil samples collected
from GP4, GPS, GP6, GP7, and GP8 at 10 feet and 20 feet collected on 02/19/98 be analyzed for
petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline(TPH-g), aromatic hydrocarbons (BTEX), and fuel
oxygenates as proposed in the "Work Plan for Additional Subsurface Investigation" dated
01/27/98 and "Addendum to Work Plan" dated 02/10/98. PHS/EHD concurs with Horizon that it is
unnecessary to analyze the soil samples taken from GP1 GP2, GP3, and GP9 at 10 feet and 20
feet.
r
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Jeff Wong at(209)468-0335.
Donna.Heran, RENS, Director
Environmental Health Division
AJeffrey Wong , EHS, Trainee Margaret gorio, REHS "
LOP/Site Mitigation Unit IV Supervisor
JW:lb
c: Horizon Environmental Inc. - Ken Mateik .
c: RWQCB, Central Valley Region - Pat Anderson
i
i
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services `
