WINNER
1650 PARK STREET
ALAMEDA,CALIFORNIA 94501
(510)866.3673
December 13, 1994
Novato Ford
6995 Redwood Blvd.
Novato, CA 94947
Atm: Dave Bartel and Leonard Nash
Re: Tracy Chevrolet
Dear Mr. Bartel:
I am writing in response to your letter dated November 30, 1994
regarding Tracy Chevrolet. You refer to "serious environmental
contamination" and "serious toxic waste problems" throughout your
letter_ Not once do you give any supporting evidence to substantiate
these claims. We have consulted with our environmental specialist
and engineer, who both agree there is no possible way you or any of
your employees are endangered by the soil or the underground
water wells_ In fact the automobile fumes from a car's exhaust are
100 times more dangerous than the underground soil.
According to California law, something can only be termed hazardous
if there is exposure iu the air. Therefore the only way your
employees could be endangered is if they ate the undergorund soil_1t
is our understanding that we are in total compliance with both San
Joaquin County and The State Water Resource Board. All required
paperwork and testing has been filed with the County and State as
required. If there were any possibility of a hazardous waste or
contamination problem, the County and State would not have issued
permits and allowed the underground water wells to be installed.
2.ziTT'd IAS3fHW SOJ08 WHSS:TT S6, 92 33G
