(GSI) for the above referenced site.
The report provides a brief description of the site history to date, describes current quarter field activities, tabulates
all groundwater monitoring data to date, indicates a consistent gradient, and draws conclusions based upon the data.
In the report GSI recommends additional monitoring of the existing groundwater monitoring wells and to develop
a scope of work to further assess the extent of hydrocarbon impact to soil and groundwater beneath the site.
PHS/EHD concurs with the recommendations stated in the report. In addition to the analyses currently being run
on MW-3 PHS/EHD recommends EPA Method 601 for chlorinated hydrocarbons due to the presence of
tetrachloroethene detected during the waste oil tank removal. Soil samples obtained for purposes of delineating the
lateral extent of soil contamination in this area should also be analyzed by EPA Method 8010 in addition to 8015
and 8020.
PHS/EHD recommends the next scope of work address the extent of soil and groundwater contamination at this site.
Methodology should include step out borings, hydropunches and additional upgradient and downgradient monitoring
wells. A workplan for this type of work should be submitted by August 15, 1995 and should be implemented by
September 15, 1995.
Permit#4062 issued to Geo-Environmental Drilling will expire on September 1, 1995. If drilling is scheduled after
that date or a different driller is contracted a new permit application and fee of$89 shall be submitted and a permit
issued prior to any on site drilling. PHS/EHD shall be notified 48 hours prior to implementation of the approved
workplan.
For further information please contact Steven Sasson at (209) 468-3459.
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Environmental Health Division
*emo
1
St ver asson, Diane W inson, REHS
Site Mitigation Unit Supervisor
SS
cc: Elizabeth Thayer, CVRWQCB
Annabel Mackey, SWRCB
Steven Carter, GeoStrategies, Inc.
Greg A.
