First Quarter 1998 Status Report - Former Discovery Chevrolet
April 27, 1998
Disposition of Well Pure Water
Purge water generated during the first quarter 1998 sampling event was discharged to
properly labelled drums and stored at the site pending disposal.
DISCUSSION
During the first quarter 1998 groundwater was measured 0.60 to 0.67 feet above levels
measured during the fourth quarter 1999. During this quarter, groundwater appeared to now
toward the north at a gradient of 0.004 ft/ft. These data appear generally consistent with
historical monitoring data.
TPHg or MTBE were not detected in wells MW-4 or MW-5. Benzene was not detected in
wells MW-3 or MW-5. Concentrations of TPHg and MTBE detected in wells MW- 1 and
MW-2 increased slightly from concentrations detected in the previous quarter.
Concentrations of benzene detected in wells MW-1 and MW-2 during the first quarter
decreased from concentrations detected in the previous quarter. Benzene detected in well
MW-4 increased from the previous quarter. However, this concentration is below the
primary drinking water standard maximum contaminant level of 1.0 ppb.
= <= NEXTQUARTER'S ACTIVITIES
Activities planned for the second quarter 1998 at the subject site include:
e Monitor DTW in all wells. Purge and sample wells MW-1, MW-2, MW-4, and
MW-5, and analyze the groundwater samples for TPHg, BTBX, and MTBE.
949146.05-5 4
