Third Quarter 1997 Status Report-• Former Discovery Chevrolet October 17, 1997 TPHg, benzene, or MTBE, were not detected in the groundwater samples collected from wells MW-4 or MW-5. MTBE was not detected in the sample .from well MW-1, but was detected at a concentration of.6 ppb in .the groundwater sample from well MW-2. TPHg were detected in samples from wells MW-1 and MW-2 at concentrations of 80 and 250 ppb,. respectively. Benzene was also.detected in the samples from these wells at 8.5.and 4.1 ppb, respectively. TPHg, BTEX, or MTBE were not detected in the trip blank. These data have been used to construct a TPHg/Benzene/MTBE Concentration Map (Figure 4). Disposition of Well Purge Water Purge water generated during the third quarter 1997 sampling event was discharged to properly labelled drums and stored at the site pending disposal.' DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS During the third quarter 1997 groundwater was measured 0.14 to 0.17 feet below levels . measured during the second quarter 1997. During this quarter; groundwater appeared to flow toward the north at a gradient of 0.004. These data appear generally consistent with historical monitoring data. TPHg, benzene, or MTBE were not detected in wells MW-4 or MW-5. Concentrations of TPHg, benzene, and MTBE detected in wells MW-1 and MW-2 during the .third quarter 1997 decreased from concentrations detected in the.previous quarter. NEXT QUARTER'S PLANNED ACTIVITIES Activities planned for the fourth quarter 1997'at the subject site include: • Monitor depth to water in all wells. Purge and sample wells MW-1, MW-2, MW-4 and MW-5. Analyze the groundwater samples from wells MW-1, MW-2; MW-4, and MW-5 for TPHg, BTEX, and MTBE.. Prepare a report of the monitoring and sampling data.
