f ' Second Quarter 1997 Status Report-Former bicovery Chevrolet
July 7, 1997
The samples were analyzed by American Environmental Network (FLAP #1172) located in
Pleasant Hill, California.
TPHg or MTBE were not detected in the groundwater samples collected from wells MW-4
and MW-5. Benzene was not detected in the groundwater :sample from well MW-5.
Benzene was detected at a concentration of 0.5 ppb in the groundwater sample collected from
well MW-4. Concentrations of TPHg were detected in the groundwater samples from wells
MW-1 (1,500 ppb) and MW-2 (2,400 ppb). Benzene was also detected in these groundwater
samples at concentrations of 310 and 240 ppb, respectively. MTBE was detected in the
groundwater samples from wells MW-1 and MW-2 at concentrations of 12 and 15 ppb,
respectively. Groundwater monitoring well MW-3 was monitored only during the second
quarter 1997 sampling event. TPHg, BTEX, or MTBE were not in the trip blank.
These data have been used to construct a TPHgIBenzene/TPHd Concentration Map
(Figure 4).
Disposition of Well Pune Water
A total of 270 gallons generated during the first.and second quarter 1997 monitoring events
and installation of wells MW-4 and MW-5 was removed from the site on June 23, 1997, and
.;. ._ transported to McKittrick Waste Treatment and Storage facility in McKittrick, California by
Intergrated Wastestream Management (IWM). A copy of the water transport form is
presented in Appendix D.
DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS
During the second quarter 1997, groundwater was measured 0.14 to 0.25 feet lower than
levels measured during the first quarter 1997. During the second quarter 1997, groundwater
appeared to flow toward the north-northeast under a gradient of 0.004 ft/ft. These data
appear generally consistent with historical mor itoring data.
Petroleum hydrocarbons were not detected in well MW-5. TPHg benzene, and MTBE
concentrations increased during the second quarter 1997 in wells MW-1 and MW-2. .
Benzene decreased slightly in well MW-4.
NEXT QUARTER'S PLANNED ACTIVITIES
Activities planned for the second quarter 1997 at the subject site include:
• Monitoring water levels in all wells. Purge and sample wells MW-1, MW-2, MW-4,
and MW-5. Analyze the groundwater samples from wells MW-1, MW-2, MW-4, and
MW-5 for TPHg, BTEX, and MTBE.
4
8146.04-2 4
