The wells were completed with a flush-grade, water-tight well
box at the surface. The top of the well casings were secured with a locking watertight
expansion cap and lock. Well construction details are shown on the boring logs in Appendix
D.
Wellhead Elevation Survey
On April 4, 1997, the wellheads for all the newly installed groundwater monitoring wells
were surveyed relative to the existing wells on the site by Horizon personnel. The calculated
results of this wellhead survey are included with the groundwater data in Table 3.
Groundwater Monitoring,Well Development, and Sampling
On April 4, 1997, Horizon personnel were onsite to perform well development and
groundwater sampling of the groundwater monitoring wells MW-4 and MW-5. The wells
were developed, purged, and sampled as described in Appendix C. Depth to groundwater
levels were recorded before and after development and purging of the newly installed wells
MW-4 and MW-5. The existing wells, MW-1, 2 and 3, were also measured and purged. All
five monitoring wells were sampled for bio-parameters. Groundwater samples were
contained in cooled storage for transport to the laboratory for the requested analyses.
Groundwater monitoring data was recorded on Monitoring Well Data Sheets (Appendix E)
and summarized as Tables 2 and 3. The groundwater elevation data was used to calculate a
groundwater gradient for the site. The groundwater gradient was interpreted to be
approximately 0.004 with a flow direction toward the north-northwest. The groundwater
elevations for wells MW-1 through MW-5, groundwater contours and flow direction are
depicted on Figure 2
Well Inventory
A review of California Department of Water Resources (DRW) well records was conducted
by Horizon. Records were searched to identify wells within a one-half mile radius of the
3001-1 Lrpt 5 HORIZON ENVIRONMENTAL INC.
