I Second Quarter 1996 Status Report June 7, 1996 TPHg and benzene were detected in the groundwater samples from wells MW-1 (5,800 and 980 ppb, respectively) and MW-2 (8,200 and 740 ppm, respectively). TPHg, TPHd, BTEX, and Cl-HCs were not detected in the groundwater sample from well MW-3. TPHg, BTEX, or Cl-HCs were not detected in the trip blank. These data have been .used to construct a TPHg/Benzene/TPHd Concentration Map (Figure 4). Disaosition of Well Purge Water Purge water generated during the first and second quarter 1996 sampling of groundwater monitoring wells MW-1 through MW-3 was. discharged to a properly labelled drum and stored at the site pending disposal. DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS During the second quarter 1996, groundwater was measured 0.33 to 0.69 feet below levels measured during the first quarter 1996. Groundwater appeared to flow toward the northwest under a gradient of 0.002. These data appear generally consistent with historical.monitoring data. TPHg and BTEX compounds continue to be detected in groundwater samples collected from wells MW-1 and MW-2. Concentrations in well MW-1 are somewhat higher than those detected in the previous. quarter, while the-concentrations in.well MW-2 are slightly lower than the previous quarter. Petroleum hydrocarbons were not detected in the sample from Well MW-3 this quarter. These data appear generally consistent with historical chemical concentrations. NEXT QUARTER'S PLANNED ACTIVITIES Activities planned for the third quarter 1996 at the subject site.include: • Monitoring, purging, and sampling all on-site groundwater monitoring wells. Groundwater samples from wells MW-1 and MW-2 will be.analyzed for TPHg and BTEX. The groundwater sample from well MW-3 will be analyzed for TPHd and Cl-HCs only. • Groundwater samples from well MW-3 will be analyzed for TPHg and BTEX annually beginning.in the first quarter of 1997. 9146.03-2 4
