 Former Discovery Chevrolet
t" ifi March 22 1996
Cl-HCs were not detected in the groundwater sample from well MW-3, but this sample did
contain TPHd at a concentration of 60 ppb. TPHg and BTEX were not detected in the trip
blank. These data have been used to construct a TPHg/Benzene/TPHd Concentration Map
(Figure 4).
Disposition of Well Purge Water
Approximately 75 gallons of water generated during the second, third, and fourth quarters
of 1995 were removed from the site on February 12, 1996. The water was removed by
Evergreen Environmental Services and taken to their facility in Newark, California, for
disposal. A copy of the disposal manifest is attached in Appendix B. Purge water generated
during the first quarter 1996 sampling of groundwater monitoring wells MW-1 through
MW-3 was discharged to properly labelled drums and stored at the site pending disposal. e
DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS i
During the first quarter 1996 groundwater was measured 0.31 to 0.61 feet above levels
measured during the fourth quarter 1995. Groundwater levels measured during the first
quarter 1996 are the highest levels recorded to date. During the fust quarter 1996 `
groundwater appeared to flow toward the northwest under a gradient of 0.02. These data
sr}
._: ., appear generally consistent with_historical monitoring data. j
TPHg and benzene were detected upgradient (well MW-1) and downgradient (well MW-2)
of the former gasoline USTs. TPHd were detected downgradient of the former waste oil
UST (well MW-3). From fourth quarter 1995 to first quarter 1996 hydrocarbon
concentrations decreased in both wells MW-1 and MW-2.
TPHg, BTEX, or Cl-HCs have never been detected in groundwater samples from well
MW-3. Clearly the groundwater downgradient of the former waste oil UST in the vicinity
of well MW-3 has not been impacted by these hydrocarbons. TPHd has been detected in the
groundwater samples from well MW-3 only during two of the six quarterly sampling events
at concentrations of 60 and 200 ppb.
NEXT QUARTER'S PLANNED ACTIVITIES
F
Activities planned for the second quarter 1996 at the subject site include:
R
Monitoring, purging, and sampling all on-site groundwater monitoring wells.
Groundwater samples from wells MW-1 and MW-2 will be analyzed for TPHg and
BTEX. The groundwater sample from well MW-3 will be analyzed for TPHg, BTEX, k
TPHd and Cl-HCs.
8146,03-1 4
I
€1
44
E
