Former Discovery Chevrolet
"f\j March 28, 1995
TPHg and benzene were detected in wells MW-1 (3,900 and 730 ppb, respectively) and
MW-2 (1,000 and 180 ppm, respectively). TPHg, BTEX, and O&G were not detected in
Well MW-3. TPHd was detected in Well MW-3 at 200 ppb. These data have been used
to construct a TPHg/Benzene/TPHd Concentration Map (Figure 4).
DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS
During the first quarter 1995 groundwater beneath the subject site appears to have risen .
approximately 0.05 to 0.08 feet from water levels measured during the third quarter 1994.
Water appears to flow toward the north-northwest under a gradient of 0.003. Although these
data appear generally consistent with monitoring data from third quarter 1994, the recent
heavy rains may have affected the observed flow direction.
TPHg and benzene were detected upgradient (well MW-1) and downgradient (well MW-2)
.of the former gasoline USTs.. Low concentrations of TPHd were detected downgradient
(well MW-3) of the former waste oil UST. O&G has not been detected in groundwater
samples from well MW-3 for two consecutive sampling events.
Additional soil samples and groundwater monitoring wells are necessary to further assess site
conditions. GSI recommends that the existing groundwater monitoring wells be monitored
and sampled for one more quarter to further assess fluctuations in groundwater depth and
flow direction and hydrocarbon concentrations. These data will be used to better place
additional groundwater monitoring wells in the vicinity of the former USTs. After
evaluation of the second quarter 1995 monitoring data, a work plan for additional site
assessment will be prepared.
NEXT QUARTER'S PLANNED ACTIVITIES
Activities planned for the second quarter 1995 at the subject site include:
E
• Monitor, purge, and sample wells MW71 through MW-3. Groundwater samples from
wells MW-1 and MW-2 will be analyzed for TPHg and BTEX. The groundwater sample
from well MW-3 will be analyzed for TPHg, TPHd, BTEX, and O&G.
• Dispose of the soil cuttings generated during the installation of wells MW-1 through
MW-3, and the purge water generated during the development and sampling of the i
monitoring wells. t
f
0 Prepare a Quarterly, Groundwater Monitoring and Site Summary Report.
f
f
- 1 f
8146.02-1 4 k
i
