(Horizon) performed corrective action <br /> activities at the above-referenced site (see Figure 1). The corrective action work included <br /> scheduling subcontractors, obtaining permits, preparing a site-specific safety plan, <br /> performing project management and coordination, observing overexcavation and removal of <br /> gasoline-impacted soil in the area of the former tank pit area, performing soil sampling <br /> activities, collecting disposal characterization samples from the excavated soil, witnessing <br /> well abandonment activities, and preparing this report which presents field procedures, <br /> results, and conclusions subsequent to completion of the field work. The work was <br /> performed as described in the Corrective Action Plan (Horizon, June 5, 1998) for the site, <br /> and in accordance with the guidelines promulgated in the State of California Water <br /> Resources Control Board's Leaking Underground Fuel Tanks allFT) Manual, the Regional <br /> Water Quality Control Board's Tri-Regional Board Staff Recommendations for Prelimina <br /> Investigation and Evaluation of Underieround Tank Sites, and the San Joaquin County <br /> Public Health Services, Environmental Health Division(SJCPHS-EHD) guidelines. <br /> The subject site is a former automobile dealership located at 1615 11th Street in Tracy, <br /> California. The site is owned by Mr. Thomas Nokes and was formerly occupied by <br /> Discovery Chevrolet, and most recently by Tracy Chevrolet. Currently, the site is <br /> unoccupied. Site facilities include an auto showroom, a sales office, and service bays. Two <br /> 500-gallon gasoline underground storage tanks (USTs) were removed from a common <br /> excavation in the central portion of the site in April 1993. Locations of the above facilities <br /> and other pertinent site features are shown on the Site Plan(Figure 2). <br /> The purpose of the overexcavation work was to remove gasoline-impacted soil in the area of <br /> the backfilled former UST cavity and former product pipeline area as proposed in the <br /> Corrective Action Plan (Horizon, June 5, 1998) and approved by the SJCPHS-EHD letter of <br /> C June 1998. A copy of the SJCPHS-EHD approval letter is included in Appendix A, and a <br /> copy of the area excavated is shown on the Excavation PIan (Figure 3).
