V
Former Discovery Chevrolet September 16, 1998
Tracy,California Re rt on Remedial Work
v
Based on the analytical results of the overexcavation soil samples, only low levels of TPHg
(between 5 ppm and 27 ppm), Benzene (between 0.034 ppm and 2.4 ppm), and TEX
(between 0.012 ppm and 41 ppm) were left in place in the perimeter soils of the
overexcavation cavity. These results are below the Target Cleanup Level of 5 ppm Benzene
in soil approved by the SJCPHS-EHD for the site.
Based on the results of this investigation and the extent of overexcavation work performed at
the site, it is our opinion that other than the short-term groundwater verification monitoring,
no further remedial work related to the former USTs, former associated piping, and former
dispenser is necessary at this site. By removing the gasoline-impacted soil as a secondary
source for hydrocarbons in groundwater, the gasoline hydrocarbons in groundwater should
naturally attenuate with time. It is Horizon's recommendation that this site be closed by the
SJCPHS-EHD, and no further environmental work required, other than proper destruction of
the four remaining groundwater monitoring wells (MW-2 through MW-5) at the site.
Limitations
The methods and procedures utilized for this work are the generally-accepted standards of
the practice of geology and environmental science in California at the time of the
investigation. This site investigation was conducted solely for the purpose of evaluating soil
conditions with respect to gasoline-related hydrocarbons. No soil engineering or
r.. geotechnical references are implied nor should any such references be inferred. The
evaluation of geological conditions at the site, for purposes of this investigation, was made
utilizing a limited number of observation points. Subsurface conditions may vary some
distance away from the available observation points.
