t
encountered, one grab groundwater sample will be collected at each boring location
(total of four groundwater samples) and submitted for laboratory analyses. If
groundwater is not encountered within 30 feet of ground surface, then one soil sample
from each boring location will be submitted for laboratory analysis. Each sample will be
analyzed for volatile organic compounds (VOCs), including BTEX compounds and
MTBE, using EPA Method 8260 (low level detection limits) and total petroleum
hydrocarbons (TPH) using EPA Method 8015. The TPH analyses (for the diesel fuel
and oil range hydrocarbons) will be preceded by silica gel cleanup to remove naturally
occurring fats or lipids that may cause false positive results. The samples will be
analyzed using a one-week laboratory turn around time. The push rods will be pulled
and the 1.5 inch diameter borings will be cement-grouted to surface.
HEALTH AND SAFETY PLAN
A site-specific Health and Safety Plan (HASP) will be prepared prior to fieldwork. The
HASP will address the scope of work and safety concerns for the Property. An
underground utility clearance will also be performed before the drilling is conducted.
SCHEDULE
The fieldwork will begin as soon as soil boring permit is received from San Joaquin County.
The actual drilling should be completed in one field day, provided sufficient groundwater
enters the boririgs to allow for sampling. The schedule is broken down as follows:
Week 1 Prepare HASP,work plan, submit soil boring permit application.
Week 2 San Joaquin County Department of Environmental Health
reviews the permit application.
Week 3 Perform the fieldwork, including utility clearance and drilling.
Week 4 and 5 Receive laboratory data and prepare the written report.
The laboratory analytical data will be available approximately one week following the
fieldwork. A verbal status report will be provided after the fieldwork is completed and
GeoTrans has received the analytical data.
2
