• S ECOR - _ w
Mrs. Kristi Shelton
April 17, 2008
Page 3
test pit adjacent to the loader underground piping. No detectable benzene or toluene was
reported in the 27 samples collected from the test pits. STLC lead was analyzed in four
samples, and was detected in at concentrations ranging from 0.21 to 0.26 ppm.
Groundwater monitoring and sampling was performed at the site on a quarterly basis from 1991
through 1994. From 1995 through 1999, semi-annual groundwater monitoring and sampling
was performed. It appears that groundwater monitoring was ceased during 2000, 2001, 2002,
and 2003. Sampling of the wells was conducted once in 2004 and once in 2005. Quarterly
groundwater monitoring and sampling was re-initiated during the first quarter 2006 and
continued for one year. The last quarterly report submitted was for the first quarter of 2007.
Since the fourth quarter of 2004, the groundwater gradient has been predominantly toward the
northwest.
SENSITIVE RECEPTORS
In May 2005, ATC performed a field receptor survey to locate private wells or other receptors
within 1,000 feet of the site. A domestic groundwater supply well (WSW-1) was located on the
site property itself. This well was reportedly 1,136 feet deep and used for non-potable
sanitation purposes. Two nearby domestic wells were identified. One domestic well was
located at 8197 East 11th Street approximately 130 feet southeast of the Site. Another well was
observed at 8188 East 11th Street approximately 370 feet south-southeast of the Site. ATC
was unable to reach the owners of these two wells. A concrete lined irrigation canal running
east to west between 11th Street and the Site was also observed during the field receptor
survey. The canal emerged from underground just west of the site.
In October 2005, ATC Associates, Inc. subcontracted GeoSearch to conduct a '/2-mile radius
sensitive receptor survey. Two wells were identified in this search. In addition to the on-site
water supply well, an unidentified well located approximately 2,500 feet to the west-northwest of
the site, drilled to 850 feet bgs, was also identified.
SECOR International Incorporated
