M�Rvv 15:/--) <br /> SEP 13 2011 <br /> Manure Management Plan <br /> For Project on 21030 E Acampo Road, Clements, Ca 95227 <br /> by Jeanine Burkart <br /> The manure management plan is for a commercial horse training operation for high-end sport <br /> horses.The propsed barn and arena is a"18,000sf structure containing a 100x100 indoor riding <br /> arena,storage area and 14 box stalls.A smaller number of horses will be pasture kept year round. <br /> The facility will operate year round. <br /> The facility is located on the north part of a 30 acres parcel.On the south part of the parcel the <br /> owners private residence is located as well as the well and an older redwood barn.We suggest you <br /> to see all details on the plot plans and maps that have been endorsed together with the use change <br /> permit and now the building permit concerning this project. <br /> The prevailing wind direction on the site is from the West. <br /> Afurtrur AM fill gvrrrcirf <br /> The maximum number of horses in the commercial area proposed in this facility design is 20. <br /> The 14 box stalls to be cleaned at least once daily,the manure directly placed on a manure spreader. <br /> The further proceeding with the manure on the manure spreader is described later. <br /> The bedding material is rice hulls on top of rubber mats. <br /> By using rubber mats on top of a hard surface the amount of needed bedding to keep the horse <br /> comfortable is very low.A typical 1000 pound horse produces Silbs of manure daily.Since all horses <br /> are to be turned out at least 6 hours/day the manure produced in the stalls is less than this amount. <br /> Around 38 lbs of manure+2 lbs of rice hulls remain to be collected daily of the box stalls.This should <br /> add up to be less than 1 sf/day. <br /> This adds up to be a total of 560 lbs/day or 16,800 lbs per month. <br /> Horse manure is about 60%solids and 40%urine which is absorbed by the bedding. <br /> The remaining amount of horses is pasture-kept.The manure management needs of pastured horses <br /> are different than stabled horses.The field-deposited manure is beneficial as it serves as a fertilizer. <br /> Substantial amounts of manure can accumulate where horses congregate around gates,waterers, <br /> favorite shade areas,feeders, and shelters.These areas will be cleaned(and the manure also added <br /> to the manure spreader)for better pasture management, parasite control, and to diminish fly <br /> breeding. <br /> The manure out of the manure spreader will be applied on land as a fertilizer and soil amendment as <br /> the manure spreader is full. On a typical 70 sf3 spreader this will be after 3 days.As fly eggs can hatch <br /> in as little as seven days under optimal temperature and moisture conditions this timeframe should <br />
