CONCLUSIONS
The EHD typically require an equivalent minimum of 300 lineal feet of leachline(LFLL) for septic
systems that possess sufficient disposal area to accommodate this minimum. Where sufficient
disposal area does not exist, the EHD requires a civil engineer to design a system for adequate
effluent disposal for a respective project with a disposal area less than sufficient to install 300 LFLL.
The EHD does allow design variances based upon a civil engineer's design parameters. Two
variances apply to this project: the first pertains to the requirement of a 10-ft disposal area setback
from a driveway. As noted on the plans, due to area restraints caused by the proposed on-site
retention basin, the Infiltrator Chambers must encroach to six ft from the entrance driveway as
illustrated on the Plans. Also illustrated on the Plans, are the use of railroad ties (or equivalent)
around the effluent disposal area to prevent it from being driven upon in accordance with Section
8.4.4. of the San Joaquin County Onsite Wastewater Disposal Standards.
The second design deviation is in regard to Section 8.8.6 of the San Joaquin County Onsite
Wastewater Disposal Standards which states that at least 60%of septic systems must be in leach
lines, except in hardpan/clay soils. These soil types exist under the subject facility based upon the
findings of NOA.
As referenced in the Introduction, a mobile home may be moved on-site near the southeast side the
referenced Horse Stables in the future. The mobile home must have its own septic tank. Effluent
from this tank can gravity flow in a 4 inch ABS line and tie into the septic tank serving the Horse
Stables restroom. The Infiltrator Chambers and seepage pits will then manage both the restroom
and mobile home's wastewater flows until the replacement/reserve area must be activated.
As-Builts of the entire septic system must be submitted to the EHD by the septic system
installer/contractor after installation.
Pa e -5-
Chesney Consulting
