Y v
PACIFIC
ENVIRONMENTAL
GROUP INC.
PEIRKPlIT/SERVICES
March 24, 1992
Project 310-01.04
Ms. Penny Silzer
UNOCAL Corporation
2000 Crow Canyon Place, Suite 400
San Ramon, California 94583
Re: UNOCAL Bulk Plant 0788
8203 East 11th Street
Tracy, California
Dear Ms. Silzer:
This letter presents the findings of a quarterly groundwater monitoring program
being conducted by Pacific Environmental Group, Inc. (PACIFIC) for UNOCAL
Corporation (UNOCAL) at the site referenced above(Figure 1). The most recent
groundwater monitoring event was conducted on February 19, 1992, and included
the collection of groundwater elevation data and the sampling of groundwater
from site monitoring wells for laboratory analysis. A brief description of additional
investigation to be conducted at the site is also included.
Site Conditions
The site is an operating UNOCAL bulk plant with two 19,500-gallon and
two 20,000-gallon above-ground storage tanks located in the western portion of the
property (Figure 2). The 19,500-gallon tanks contain diesel and super unleaded
gasoline, and the 20,000-gallon tanks contain regular leaded gasoline and unleaded
gasoline. There is a water-supply well located on-site; and this well is
approximately 80 feet deep based on information from site personnel. This well
was sampled during November 1990, and did not contain detectable
concentrations of total petroleum hydrocarbons calculated as gasoline (TPH-
gasoline), total semi-and non-volatile hydrocarbons calculated as diesel (TPH-
diesel), or benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes (BTEX compounds).
There are currently six groundwater monitoring wells on site, designated U-1
41 through U-b. The total depths of site wells range from 18 feet to 27 feet, and all
wells are constructed of 3-inch diameter PVC casing.
1601 Civic Center Drive, Suite 202,Santa Clara, California 95050 (408)984-65:36 FAX: (408) 243-3911
620 Contra Costa Boulevard, Suite 209, Pleasant Hill,California 94523 (510) 825-0855 FAX: (510)825-0882
