f
i -
February 10, 2005
NOA Project Number: E05001A
Presaturation of the percolation test holes occurred on Sunday,January.30, 2005. The depth of
water used to pre-soak was 12 inches above the bottom of the boring.
i` 6.4 Condition of Borings After Presaturation
After the 24-hour soak period, the presaturated hole was found to be dry and intact on January 31,
2005.
6.5 Percolation Test Procedure
` The shallow percolation test was conducted in accordance with the requirements of the EHD. A
percolation test with a duration of one hour was performed. The test in its entirety was observed by
Ms. Lisa Medina,Senior Registered Environmental Health Inspector, EHD.
Measurement of the water level during the percolation test was from a fixed reference point on the
PVC casing using an electric well sounder with an depth accuracy of 1/100th foot. Alltabulated
values on the field data sheet (appendix) are in decimal feet. After water drop was observed, the
holes were checked for refill. The refill level was approximately 0.5 ft (6 inches) of water above the
bottom level of the percolation test hole. The readings were taken approximately every 10 minutes
for a period of one hour.
6.6 Percolation Test Forniss-and Results
F1
The completed percolation test forms are included in the appendix of this report.
A shallow percolation test is.defined by the EHD as being betuTeen 36 and 42 inches in depth;a
satisfactory percolation rate for a shallow test is less than or equal to 60 minutes per inch drop. No
deep percolation test was performed. Details of the percolation tests are summarized in Table 5.
Table 5.
SummarV.of Percolation Tests.
Test No., Percolation Percolation Rate Test Comment
Date Tested _Test Depth (ft) (minutes/inch) Duration (see notes)
P-1 shallow,1-31-05 . -3.0 1.2 1-hr Rapid rate.
Note: A satisfactory percolation rate for a"shallovi'testis less than or equal to 60 minutes per inch.
6.7 Discussion of Percolation Test Results
The soils within the sewage disposal area demonstrated a rapid percolation rate. This rate is in
accordance with the requirements of the EHD.
6.8 Discussion of Septic System Sizing
_ 8
