I
h
Public Services
Law Enforcement
The Stockton Metropolitan Airport currently employs two airport police officers. The airport is also within
the service area of the San Joaquin County Sheriffs Department. The Sheriff's Department has
indicated that as the airport expands, the Sheriffs Department would be able to provide law enforcement
services to the airport at whatever level is deemed appropriate.
i
Fire Protection
Fire protection for the airport is provided by the Montezuma Fire District (MFD). On-site emergency
sevice and equipment are available to handle fire, crashes, and fuel and oil spills. The French Camp
Fire District, Manteca-Lathrop Fire District, and the Stockton Fire Department provide fire protection
F
assistance through mutual aid agreements.
As the airport develops, fire protection will continue to be provided in the same way. Additionally, the
MFD is funded by a per-square-foot levy on all buildings constructed in the area. As the airport and the
commercialfindustrial areas are developed, adequate funding would be available to finance required
increases in MFD facilities and personnel.
I Utilities
Water
I
Domestic water is provided to the airport by the Southern Water System, which is now operated by the
City of Stockton by agreement between the City and the County.
The 2015 project with Phase 11 interchange improvements (flyover ramps)will have a total water demand
of 867,500 gallons per day (gpd). The County has an allocation of 1.4 million gpd from the Southern
Water System Agreement.
Wastewater Treatment
The City of Stockton has contracted with the airport to provide wastewater treatment to the terminal and
Air Metro Industrial Park.
i The 2015 project with Phase I interchange improvements will generate 859,500 gpd of wastewater. The
County has a guaranteed capacity with the City of Stockton of 1.3 million gpd. The City has taken the
k position that the airport project must be consistent with their General Plan in order to provide sewer
l
service to the project. If the Planning Commission recommends approval of these applications to the
Board of Supervisors, the Airport Manager, will prepare a written request to the City's Community
Development Director to initiate an amendment to the City General Plan to be consistent with the
County's proposed General Pian and land uses.
,
San Joaquin County ER-96-1, et al\Stockton Airport
Community Development Page 19
