February 15,2006
NOA Project Number: E06006A
4.2 Methods of Mitigation
Because the proposed use shouldnot cause a buildup of nitrates in the groundwater above the safe
drinking water standard, no mitigation measures are warranted for nitrate control. However, to
mitigate the fast percolation rates reported in the SSS,we would recommend use of a modified filter
bed septic system. The modified filter bed should'contain approximately, four.inches of loose
compast`or peat'to provide a car bon`sourceand slow-the-percolation rate. The remainder of the
system should follow standard EHD design procedures.
5.0 CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
Our office concludes that the proposed project is suitable for development with the use of a
modified filter bed septic system.:.All septic system construction should follow the San Joaquin
County On-Site Wlastewater Disposal Standards where applicable.
We recommend the existingdomestic well not be used for drinkin water since the water quality test
g q ty
indicates levels of nitrate above the MCL for drinking water. Potential repair options for the well
should be discussed with the EHD.
5.1 Signatures
The signatures,of the environmental professionals involved in the preparation of this report can be
found on the cover sheet at the front of this package.
5.2 Attachments
® All required attachments and appendices can be found at the rear of this package.
6.0 LIMITATIONS
v
Out.professional services were performed, our findings obtained, and our conclusions proposed in
accordance with genezally accepted engineeringprinciples and practices.
