File No. 20-3648-01 KLEINFFLDER
July 7, 1992
"The history of past uses in the project area to assess potential
problems; " (C-4) :
Reference is made to Plate I of this report which shows the
location of the Etcheverry property. At the time of our
field explorations, the property contained a walnut orchard.
Row crops such as tomatoes and beans or peas were present
north and west of the site. Residences with associated
outbuildings, wells, and septic systems were located east §
and west of the proposed "parcel 1" and along Banta Road.
On June 22 , 1992 , a representative of our firm visited
three residences and the walnut hulling facility located off
Banta Road at the approximate locations indicated on Plate
I. The purpose of the visits was to obtain information
regarding septic system use and to inquire about any
problems known to exist with this method of sewage disposal.
The residents reported having no problems with the
performance of their septic systems. One of the residents
indicated that their well produced "good" quality water.
The remaining two residents indicated that they used bottled
water for drinking.
Our representative also performed a review of County septic
system permit records. The records do not contain any
recent permits for the older residences in the site area.
The relatively new residence at location 1 on Plate I
constructed their septic system approximately two years ago.
E`
ITEM C-2 :
"The suitability of the soil for development utilizing septic j
systems;"
On June 29, 1992 , a representative of our firm drilled and
set-up one approximate 3-foot deep percolation test hole on
each of the proposed parcels at the approximate locations
shown on Plate I. The test holes were drilled with hand
drilling equipment using a 6-inch diameter continuous-flight
auger. Perforated PVC pipe was inserted into the test holes
to prevent disturbance when adding water. The test holes
were filled with relatively clean water and were left to
soak overnight.
i
On June 30, 1992, our representative returned to the site to
perform the percolation tests. As per San Joaquin County
' guidelines, the tests were performed for a period of four
hours. The last 30 minutes of each test were used to
calculate the percolation rates. In order to use standard
leach lines, the County requires a percolation rate of 60
Copyright 1992 U einfeider. Inc. Page 2 of 4
1
