I
:1 INTRODUCTION
=' This addendum address the issues raised by Mr. Ron Rowe of SJC PHS/EHD in his
comments dated May 15, 1998.
"Report suggests that plume is defined laterally. Borehole and monitoring data suggest other
wise. No data exists south of MW-2 or MW-101. Report also makes no conclusions
regarding vertical assessment/definition".
`3 Lateral Definition
Borehole soil testing data demonstrate that the plume is laterally defined in down gradient
and cross gradient directions (E, NE, N, NW, W, & SW directions) by non-detects in MW-4,
MW-5, MW-6 and MW-7. The only portion of the plume that does not have discrete soil test
17 data is the area SE of the former tank location.
- Groundwater samples from all monitoring wells on this property except MW-1, MW-2, &
MW=101, are free of gasoline compounds. And the analytes found in these three wells are
very near detection limits, indicating that these wells are at the edge of the plume.
Standard data interpretation methods include the extrapolation of data from an area of known
conditions to an area of unknown but interpreted to have similar conditions. The evidence
for this was presented in the geologic cross section in the December 22, 1997 Soil and
