C & B Equipment operates the site as a repair facility, and conducts
equipment and parts sales.
:. On June 2, 1988, two UST's; one 550 gallon capacity diesel tank and one 1,000 gallon
unleaded gasoline tank, were removed. The San Joaquin County Public Health Services
Environmental Health Division (SJC PHS/EHD) inspector Mr. Jaime Favila reported that the
diesel tank appeared intact but the soil around it was discolored and exhibited an odor. The
gasoline tank was observed to have two one-half inch holes in it at the west end. Odors and
discoloration were evident throughout the tank excavation. Groundwater was encountered at
8.5 feet and two soil and one groundwater samples were recovered from beneath the former
tank locations.
Elevated concentrations of gasoline range and low concentrations of diesel range petroleum
-.- hydrocarbons were detected in the soil sample collected from the west end of the gasoline
;.:. tank excavation. Approximately 16 cubic yards of soil were removed from the excavation.
On July 25, 1995 Geological Technics Inc. (GTI) personnel directed a preliminary subsurface
investigation which included the installation of three groundwater monitoring wells.
Groundwater samples collected from MW-1 and MW-2 tested positive for gasoline range
petroleum hydrocarbons.
f:
On October 17, 1997 GTI supervised the installation of four additional water table
groundwater monitoring wells (MW-4 thru MW-7) and one deeper, discretely screened
(..: monitoring well (MW-101). Soil samples collected from MW-101 show evidence of BTEX
compounds to a depth of 39 feet below ground surface (bgs). Groundwater samples collected
from MW-101 contained BTEX and gasoline range hydrocarbons.
This report summarizes the activities of this recent investigative work as well as a
groundwater monitoring event.
=j
