• INTRODUCTION
Live Oak GeoEnvironmental, Inc. (Live Oak) was contracted by Komal Atwal to conduct
a Nitrate Loading Study for the property located at 28488 South Bird Road, Tracy,
California. Mr. Atwal has indicated that he plans to place three new employee housing
units on the Site; three existing employee housing units are located on the Site.
Because of concerns of nitrate leaching into ground water from septic systems, a nitrate
loading analysis was required by the San Joaquin County Environmental Health
Department for approval of the proposed development. The study estimates the
potential concentration of percolating effluent produced by the proposed project over the
long term. Where percolating effluent leaches into the ground, ground water quality
may be impacted to some degree should the effluent reach ground water.
The formatting of the report has been designed to follow the recommendations of the
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department as described in its Nitrate
Loading Study Requirements Checklist.
Site Description
The Assessor's Parcel Number (APN) for the Site is 239-200-13. The parcel is 2.13
acres in size, and is located at 28488 South Bird Road, Tracy (Plate 1). The San
• Joaquin County Community Development Department lists the additional addresses of
28486, 28484, 28482, 28478, and 28476 South Bird Road for the Site.
A house and two mobile homes are currently located on the Site, as well as several
sheds and chicken coops. A well supplies water to the Site (Plate 2). Mr. Atwal
indicated that a new well will be drilled for the Site. New septic systems will serve the
new mobile homes.
• LOGE 1833 Page 1
