µL.
4 `
kn KLEINULDER
Our calculations are as follows:
Single Home
NC — .44 2 45 1 — 0.3 +2.2 3 27.7_+ 6.6 — 8.85 mg/l as N
.44(2) +3 0.88 +3
Two Homes
NC — .89 2 45 1 -- 0.30 +2.2 3 = 56.1 + 6.6 = 13.1 mg/1 as N
.89(2) +3 1,78 +3
In summary, the Hantzsche equation indicates that only one home can be placed on the lot in
order to maintain the nitrate levels in groundwater below the required standard. A deed
restriction;limiting the number of homes on the lot to one may be required by SJCPHS or an
engineered system to increase denitrification will need to be specified.
One of the factors required by the SJCPHS is to determine the existing value of nitrate in the
groundwater below the site. Accordingly, a sample of groundwater was obtained using clean
procedures'from the recently installed well. The results of our evaluation showed a nitrate as
NO3 concentration of 20 mg/l. This value correlates to a nitrate as N concentration of about 4.5
mg/l. As requested, two additional water samples were obtained from water wells on adjacent
properties to the north and south and the results are attached.
LIMITATIONS
The conclusions of this report are based on'the information provided regarding the existing and
proposed development and on the site conditions. This completes the scope of work requested.
Our work was performed in general accordance with the standard of care that exists in San
Joaquin County. No other guarantee or warranty, expressed or implied is made.
Respectfully submitted,
KLEIN LDER, I C.
