Christensen
Roberts and Schaefer
5225 Wiley Post Way, No. 300
Salt Lake City, Utah 84116
Subject: ADDITIONAL GEOTECHNICAL SERVICES
PROPOSED TEICHERT AGGREGATES -
VERNALIS PLANT
SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY, CALIFORNIA
1. 11V RODUCTION
This report presents the results of a test boring drilled and percolation testing performed for the
subject project. The proposed plant will be located at the southeast comer of Bird and Blewett
Roads in San Joaquin County, California. Reference is made to our report dated June 9, 1994
which included the results of a subsurface investigation performed -for the subject project.
We understand that a storm drainage basin will be constructed at the northeast corner, and a
septic system for the on-site facilities will be constructed near the north central portion of the
site. The basin will likely be between approximately 5 and 10 feet deep. The purpose of our
Loring and percolation testing has been to explore and evaluate the surface and subsurface
conditions at the proposed basin and septic system locations and to provide recommendations for
uw. in design by others. The scope of our services was outlined in our discussions with Mr.
Rodney Smith and in our proposal dated June 16, 1994.
H. HELD EXPLORATIONS
The field explorations for this report were performed on June 27 and 28, 1994. One test boring
was drilled to a depth of approximately 40 feet, and three percolation tests were performed at
depths of approximately 10, 20, and 30 feet below existing ground surface at the proposed
drainage basin location. Two approximate 3-foot deep percolation tests were performed at the
proposed septic system location. The approximate locations at which the boring and percolation
tests were performed are shown on Plate A-1 of this report.
The boring and percolation test holes were drilled using a truck-mounted drill rig equipped with
approximate 6-inch diameter, hollow-stem and continuous-flight augers. A continuous log of the
materials encountered in the boring was maintained by a field engineer from our firm. Each
percolation test hole was cased with slotted PVC pipe packed in relatively-clean sand. The
percolation tests at the proposed basin location were performed on June 27, 1994.
