QX-94-0001 > <br /> OF GRANITE CONSTRUCTION(ADDRESS: 37282 SOUTH BIRD ROAD.- <br /> TRACY, <br /> OAD;TRACY, CA(APN 265-120-06, and 16; 265-080-11,12, and 15). <br /> The applicant is proposing a Revision of Approved Actions Application to an approved quarry to <br /> I amend Community Development Department Condition of Approval I(z)Regarding Screening. <br /> The applicant is proposing to plant one row of Evergreen trees around the perimeter of the <br /> excavation site,rather than two rows of almond trees. (Use Type: Quarry Operations).The <br /> parcels have a General Plan Designation of OS/RC,AIG(Open Space-Resource Conservation& <br /> General Agriculture)and are zoned AG- 160&AG-40(General Agriculture 160 acre minimum <br /> &General Agriculture 40-acre minimum). <br /> The project site is located north and west of the intersection of Interstate 5 and Interstate 580 <br /> Southeast of Tracy. <br /> Background <br /> On October 30, 1997 the Community Development Department approved a Quarry Excavation <br /> permit to excavate 380 acres of a 500 acre site. On April 3, 1998 Granite Construction assumed <br /> ownership and operational responsibilities for the site from Brown Sand and Gravel. In January <br /> of 1999 Granite Construction declared the site was idle due to the economic climate at that time. <br /> In March of 1999 Granite Construction submitted to the Community Development Department an <br /> Interim Management Plan that was in effect until January of 2000.A start up plan was filed and <br /> enacted at that time. The site has since been classified as idle and is operating under an amended <br /> Interim Management Plan.The applicant projects to resume mining operations in early 2006. <br /> I <br /> 1 <br /> i <br />
