The <br /> potential significance or unique quality of cultural resources. <br /> may also be assessed in reference to the cultural resources <br /> elements of county general plans. <br /> "Significance" has many levels of meaning and interpretation <br /> (see Moratto and Kelly [1978:1-30] ) . Recognition for historic <br /> properties includes HABS (Historic American Building Survey) , <br /> HAER (Historic American Engineering Record) , NHL (National <br /> Historical Landmark) , SHL (State Historical Landmark, CPHI <br /> (California Point of Historical Interest) , and also various <br /> county and city designations. <br /> Management recommendations for mitigation of proposed <br /> project impact and preservation of cultural resources are <br /> presented on a project-specific basis. They may include <br /> alternatives or options for implementing the proposed project or <br /> undertaking, while at the same time minimizing or avoiding <br /> .. adverse impact on cultural resources. <br /> The information obtained from the collective cultural <br /> resources investigations is transmitted to the lead agency or <br /> proposed project manager. In the event that cultural resources <br /> are found on a proposed project, management recommendations are <br /> presented. They may include alternatives or options for <br /> implementing the proposed project or undertaking, while at the <br /> same time minimizing or avoiding adverse impacts on the cultural <br /> resources. <br />
