The project is located on the north side of Brandt Road, 1350 feet west of State Route 88, in
Lockeford.
i
Our Traffic Operations Branch offers the following comments on the initial Study:
1) The existing intersection of State Highway 88 and Brandt Road was not designed to accommodate
large trucks turning in and out of E. Brandt Road toward the proposed project site. Bringing more
trucks to this location would create operational and potential safety problems. This intersection
would need to be upgraded with longer eastbound left turn pocket storage, STAA truck turning
radius, and deceleration and ac=celeration lanes to accommodate large trucks generated by this
I project. We recommend these improvements be in place before this proposed project, as well as any
future projects in this vicinity„ The lead agency should_ be responsible to collect necessary funds for
these improvements and their implementation.
2) An Encroachment Permit will be required to perforin the work indicated in item l.. ..
Please forward all Final.Conditions of Approval including any mitigation measures that are being
proposed as well as any other documents and reports (i.e. all forms of enviromnental documents, Traffic
Impact Study Reports, site and Location Maps, etc)on this proposed Project for our review, comment,
and records. Tf you are aware of any controversy regarding any of our requirements, please contact us as
3
soon as possible so we may work together to resolve them before submittal to your Board.
l
E
