F `-January 12,2007
NOA Project Number: E06157A
results. Generally speaking, coarser-grained soils have much greater potential for percolation than
fine-grained or cemented soils.
/6.0 PERCOLATION TEST INFORMATION
Fil /6.1 Percolation Test Locations
r" A site map indicating the location of the percolation test holes is included as Plate 1 in the appendix
of this report.
/6.2 Number of Percolation Tests
E' One shallow and one deep percolation test were conducted on the site for a total of two percolation
tests on the site. These tests were done in the proposed septic disposal area for the future residence.
/6.3 Boring Preparation and Presaturation
One shallow and one deep soil boring were advanced on the site with a truck mounted deep rock
auger rig on December 11, 2006.
A 1.5-inch diameter PVC pipe with perforations on the bottom was used to measure the drop of
water in the percolation test boring. Approximately 2 inches of pea gravel"
were placed in the
bottom of the open soil boring, then the PVC pipe was installed on top of the gravel. "Pea gravel'
was then used to backfill in the annular space.
Presaturation of the percolation test holes occurred approximately 24 hours before the percolation
Ftests. The depth of water used to pre-soak was 12 inches above the bottom of the borings.
1/6.4 Condition of Borings After Presaturation
Fi
After the 24-hour soakpr , e p eodthe resaturated holes were found to be intact without water.
/6.5 Percolation Test Procedure
The percolation tests were conducted for the borings on December 12, 2006 in accordance with the
F! requirements of the EHD. A percolation test with a duration of four hours was performed for each
hole. The last half an hour of the tests was observed by Ms. Lisa Medina, Senior Registered
Environmental Health Specialist, EHD.
. F
C'
F]
6
{ !
