6.4 Alternative Location <br /> Quarrying operations first began at this site in 1989. KRC <br /> Aggregate, Inc. is currently mining rock and sand at the site, <br /> and processing it through the existing on-site processing plant <br /> facility, under valid excavation permit QX-86-1. As this appli- <br /> cation is for an extension of quarrying activities into the re- <br /> mainder of the existing property owned by KRC Aggregate, Inc. , <br /> alternative 6.4 to quarry in another location has no meaning. To <br /> initiate a comparable quarrying operation in another location <br /> would have greater potential to cause significant adverse envi- <br /> ronmental impacts than does the proposed project. <br /> 6.S Alternative Use <br /> As quarrying operations are currently in progress at the <br /> site, it makes sense to use this site for further quarrying <br /> operations, rather than to utilize the site for some alternative <br /> use.
