The purpose of these tests and study was to supplement the
original soil suitability study prepared by our office for the subject property'.
i
PERCOLATION TESTS
it was evident from our initial study that shallow percolation tests would not be suitable
I due to the presence of near surface clay and cemented soils. Consequently, 11 deep pit
percolationMte'st holes were drilled, varying in depth from 10 to 20.5 feet deep. Test holes were
logged by an engineer and a description of the soils encountered are presented on the attached
Log of Test Holes. For approximate location of the test holes (PT) see the Location Map in the
Appendix. The previous 3 test holes from our 1991 report have also been shown on the location
map.
Deep pit percolation tests were performed at each of the test hole locations. Each of the
test holes were 4.5 inches in diameter. Two inches of gravel placed in the bottom of each hole
followed by a 2.5 inch diameter perforated pipe backfilled with gravel in the annular space. Each
' test hole was filled with water 24 hours prior to running the tests. The last half hour of test
readings were witnessed by a county health official and the test data obtained is attached. The
percolation rates have been adjusted to account for the gravel and pipe backfill. Calculations for
adjustments are on the test data sheets.
i Soil Suitability Study, Acampo Estates, 3480 E Calimyrna Rd., Acampo, CA, Neil O.
