is
Navarra Site:Potable Water=Supply Well Program Page 4 of 7
Wells to be Eliminated from Program
We recommend that the three wells described below, for the reasons stated, and to avoid
unnecessary expenditure of the USTCF funds, be excluded from the revised potable
water supply monitoring program.
Well ID Location
Tuso 24195 Chrisman Road
That well is upgradient from the 7500 West Eleventh Street site and upgradient of the
former leaking underground storage tank that was located at 24195 Chrisman Road. It
was included in the original potable water-quality monitoring program only to proceed
with an abundance of caution in case it might have been unexpectedly affected by the
leaks that occurred either at 7500 W Eleventh Street or at an off-site location at 24195
Chrisman Road. No analytes of concern have been detected in samples of potable water
recovered from this well, which was assigned the Well ID "Tuso."
Well ID Location
Gowan 7601 W Eleventh Street
That well is to the west of the plume of affected groundwater emanating from the
Navarra Site. Of modern design, it was installed in July 2002. It draws water from a
screened interval between 470 ft. and 500 ft. beneath the ground surface (BGS). That
depth interval is beneath the Corcoran Clay aquitard. The screened interval is protected
by a Portland cement grout seal that extends from the ground surface to a depth of 200 ft.
BGS. No analytes of concern have been detected in samples of potable water recovered
from the Gowan well over the one-year period of the completed water-quality monitoring
program. There is no hydrogeologic or geochemical data that has been gathered at the
Navarra Site that would suggest that there is any risk that groundwater extracted from this
well might be affected by components of fuel hydrocarbons released at the Navarra Site.
Well ID Location
Carmelo Carmelo Business Park (off Chrisman Road)
That well is a considerable distance to the west of the plume of affected groundwater
emanating from the Navarra Site. Of modern design, it was installed in July 2000. It
draws water from a screened interval between 480 ft. and 520 ft. beneath the ground
surface (BGS). That depth interval is beneath the Corcoran Clay aquitard. The screened
interval is protected by a bentonite seal that extends from the ground surface to a depth of
200 ft. BGS. No analytes of concern have been detected in samples of potable water
recovered from the Carmelo well over the one-year period of the completed water-quality
