Walnut and
cherry orchards and row crops are the primary agricultural activ-
ities in the area. The proposed site borders the Morada area and
1 is surrounded by agricultural land.
The project is inconsistent with several policies of the San
Joaquin County General Plan which protect and encourage agricul-
tural use. In addition, the project will be precedent setting
for similar projects in the area and is considered growth in-
ducing. Because the cumulative impacts to land use are signifi-
cant, the CDFA recommends the No Project Alternative for Morada
Meadows.
The CDFA supports and encourages the mitigation measures which
protect agricultural land. These include the Transfer of De-
velopment credits, directing growth away from prime soils, and
planning for development along the fringe of the Morada area.
1
s
i
SURNAME -- -- 6
