Report: Groundwater-quality Monitoring-November 28,2000: 7500 West Eleventh Street, Tracy, CA. Page 8
2.3 Recovery of Groundwater Samples from Monitoring Wells
After purging, samples were recovered from each monitoring well using either a
dedicated bailer that was left suspended in the well casing for future use or a disposable
bailer. Water brought to the surface in the bailer was decanted so as to completely fill
clean glassware supplied by the laboratory. The sample vials and jars were then tightly
closed, labeled for identification, entered into chain-of-custody control, packed on
chemical ice and held in refrigerated storage until they were transported to Chromalab,
Inc.'s (Chromalab) laboratory in Pleasanton, California for analysis.
' 2.4 Analyses of Groundwater Samples
Each groundwater water sample was analyze_d at the laboratory for the following suite of
analytes,
Analyte Method of Analysis,
Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons EPA Method 5030/8015M
(quantified:as Diesel)
Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons EPA Method 8020A/8015M
(quantified_ as Gasoline)
Benzene EPA Method 8020
Toluene EPA Method 8020
Ethyl benzene EPA Method 8020
Total Xylene Isomers EPA Method 8020
Fuel Oxygenates* EPA Method 8260A
( * Samples from monitoring wells MW-1, MW-2 and MW-7 were analyzed for the fuel
i oxygenates tertiary-Butyl alcohol (TBA), Methyl-tertiary butyl ether (MTBE), Di-
isopropyl ether (DIPE), Ethyl tertiary-butyl ether (ETBE), and tertiary-Amyl methyl
ether (TAME). Due to a laboratory error, fuel-oxygenate analyses of the groundwater
samples from monitoring wells MW-3, MW-4, MW-5 and MW-6 were performed for
MTBE only.
Chromalab is certified to perform the specified analyses by the California Department of
Health Services (DHS).
Y
sic
