Site Characterization Report: 7500 West Eleventh Street, Tracy, CA. Page 10
To prepare soil samples for analysis, the samples were retained in their plastic liners and
ends of the liners were closed with tightly-fitting plastic caps secured by adhesive-less
tape. The samples were then labeled for identification, entered into chain-of-custody
control, placed in an electric cooler on chemical ice and transported within 10 hours to
.: Sequoia Analytical, Inc.'s (Sequoia) laboratory in Walnut Creek, California, where they
' were held in cold storage.
Each soil sample recovered from the push-probe borings was analyzed for the following
suite of analytes:
Anal3qe Method of Analysis
Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons EPA Method 5030/8015M
(quantified as Diesel)
Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons EPA Method 8020/8015M
(quantified as Gasoline)
{
Benzene EPA Method 8020
Toluene EPA Method 8020
Ethyl benzene EPA Method 8020
`. Total Xylene Isomers EPA Method 8020
F-
Sequoia is certified to perform the specified analyses by the California Environmental
Protection Agency (Cal-EPA).
3.4.2 Recovery of Groundwater Samples from Push-probe Borings
When each push-probe boring had reached its maximum depth, a temporary, 1-inch
diameter, PVC well casing with a closed end and machine-cut slots was set in the boring.
The groundwater was given a reasonable time to come to quiescence before the probe of
a groundwater-depth measurement instrument was lowered into the casing to obtain a
measurement of the distance between the ground surface and the water table. Depths to
7 groundwater are presented in Appendix A. (Note: the depth to groundwater measured in
the temporary casings is not necessarily the static water table that could be determined
only after the push-probe boring had been left in a quiescent state for a minimum of 24
hours.)
Following measurement of the depth to groundwater, samples were recovered from each
cased probe hole using a %Z-in. diameter bailer. The recovered water was decanted to
completely fill clean glassware containing appropriate preservatives that were pre-
sic
