(Nate: It is anticipated that all soil and groundwater samples covered
by this Work Pian will be analyzed by Chromalab, Inc.'s [Chromalab]
laboratory in Pleasanton, California, which is so certified.) Each sample that
the engineer directs to be analyzed will be analyzed for the following-.
Analyte Method of Analysis
Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons EPA Method 5030/8015
(quantified as Diesel)
Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons EPA Method 8020A/8015
(quantified as Gasoline)
Benzene EPA Method 8020
Toluene EPA Method 8020
Ethyl benzene EPA Method 8020
Total Xylene Isomers EPA Method 8020
At exploration points where a groundwater sample is obtained via a hydro-
punch, the water pumped from the probe will be directed into clean,
laboratory-supplied glassware until the vessels are completely full. The sample
;J containers will then be labeled for identification, placed on chemical ice, and
in a similar fashion to the core soil samples, transported to Chromalab within
24 hours for analysis
1
-' Selecting Locations for Groundwater-quality Monitoring Wells
When all of the field and laboratory data from the initial phases of the
`- investigation have been compiled and evaluated, and a hydrostratigraphic and
geochemical model of the subsurface has been developed, they will be used to
select the optimal locations for installation of groundwater-quality monitoring
wells. Figure 10 shows tentative locations for a total of eight such wells.
Again, the symbology used on the figure indicates that the well locations
shown are tentative. The actual number and locations of wells will be
determined based on a synthesis of all of the information available at that stage
of the site characterization program. However, general geotechnical
engineering and hydrogeological principles have been used to select the
tentative well locations shown on Figure 10:
❑ Monitoring well MW-1 is intended as an up-gradient
groundwater-quality monitoring well, based on the general
sic
