Site C haraclerization and Soil Remediation Plan: 7500 O'est Eteventh Street, Tracy, CA. Page 19
:. ., Based on the standards and guidelines cited above, and with consideration for
the specific circumstances of the 7500 West Eleventh Street site, the following
cleanup criteria are proposed for treatment of the soil in Stockpile No, 2,
Analyte Cleanup Criterion
Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons 500 mg/Kg
(as Diesel)
Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons N.D.
(as Gasoline)
Benzene N.D.
Toluene N.D.
Ethyl benzene N D,
Total Xylene Isomers N.D.
MTBE N.D. h
Note: N.D. =Not delectable 1
ab above the Method Detection Limit (MDL)-
Rate of Removal of Contaminated Soil from Stockpile
A perrnit to treat the soil by aeration will be obtained from the San Joaquin
Valley Unified Air Pollution Control District (SJVUAPCD) under District
Rule 4651; Volatile Organic Compounds Emissions from Decontamination of
Soil Section IV B - Limited Aeration (SJVUAPCD, 1992)_
Rule 4651 limits the maximum daily rate at which contaminated soil can be
added to a spread of soil undergoing active aeration. This limiting rate is
determined by the volatile organic content of the soil. Based on the data
obtained from analysis of soil samples recovered from Stockpile No. 2, Rule
4651 would limit the rate at which the soil could be removed from the
stockpile and spread for aeration to 60 cu. yd. per day.
_l
Aeration of Contaminated Soil
Before the soil from Stockpile No. 2 is treated by bioremediation, if such
should be required, it will first be treated by aeration to eliminate gasoline and
volatile components of fuel hydrocarbons such as the BTEX compounds
- To aerate the soil, it will be removed from the stockpile using a front-end
loader and spread to a uniform thickness of approximately 6 to 9 in. over a
sic
