it
 t
` REEVE TRUCKING
Page No. b
"
Denitrification is the biological or chemical reduction of nitrate to volatile gases.
Denitrification often converts between 10%to 25% of nitrates in the effluent to gases." Sites
with higher clay content and slow peculation rates often denitrify 25% or more of the
effluent/rain but sites with higher sand content and fast peculation rates denitrify about 10% or
less of the effluent/rain. We selected the generally accepted 25%value for use on the site due to
a slow peculation rate and due to the higher clay content of the soil.
r'~
VII CONCLUSION
Based on the results of the study, it is our opinion that the subject property is suitable for
use of an on-site sewage disposal system. The system should utilized leach lines and dry wells.
If the proposed septic system is not in the general area of the percolation test, an additional test
may need to be performed. Any proposed system should be properly designed and installed
according to current San Joaquin County criteria.
The results of the Nitrate Loading analysis indicates an average nitrate-N concentration
of combined effluent and rainfall percolate concentration is estimated to be 4.7 mg/l. This
concentration is below the drinking water standard 10 mg/1 nitrate-N for groundwater. The
depth to ground water is about 75 feet and measured water quality has shown no detection of
nitrate-N in ground water. Based n the analysis we believeZhere-willbepa significant negafie
f { : act to round.ovate—r
Vill LIMITATIONS
The conclusions of this report are based on the information provided regarding the
existing and proposed development, the use of the subject property, and the site conditions as
they existed at the time we excavated our test hole and performed the percolation test. It was
r assumed that the test hole and percolation test results are representative of the subsurface
conditions in the general area.
G L: 4 Hantzshe N.N.,Finnemore,E.J. 1991, Predicating Ground-Water Nitrate-Nitrogen Impacts, Ground
Water Vol.30,No. 4.
i
ortItso
S N
z W
P
4SS0G
r
