Report:Groundwater-quality Monitoring—January 26,2004: 7500 West Eleventh Street, Tracy, CA. Page 8
- 2.2.1 Disposal of Pur e_Water
During earlier sampling rounds, purge water held temporarily in the 55-gallon drum used
` to manage it at the well locations was pumped into a 1,000-gal- storage tank located on
the 7500 West Eleventh Street property. It was planned to ship that water to a permitted
recycling facility for disposal when sufficient quantity had accumulated for that to be
{ done economically following future rounds of groundwater sampling and analysis.
However, some time between the round of groundwater-quality monitoring conducted on
the site on April 15, 2003 and the round that was conducted on July 30, 2003, the holding
' tank was stolen from the site. Under the circumstances, purge water generated during the
January 26, 2004 sampling round was temporarily stored on the 7500 West Eleventh
Street property in 55-gallon steel drums. A new holding tank was delivered to the site in
February 2004. The purge water stored in the 55-gallon drum during the January 2004
sampling round has since been transferred to the holding tank.
2.3 Recovery of Groundwater Samples from Monitoring Wells
After purging, samples were recovered from Monitoring Wells MW-3, MW-4, MW-5,
MW-6, MW-7, MW-10 and MW-11 using a disposable bailer. Water brought to the
« surface in the bailer was decanted so as to fill completely the clean glassware supplied by
the laboratory. The sample vials and jars were then tightly closed, labeled for
identification, entered into chain-of-custody control, packed on chemical ice and held in
_ refrigerated storage until they were transported, within eight hours, to Severn Trent
Laboratories' (STL) laboratory in Pleasanton, California for analysis.
2.4 Analyses of Groundwater Samples
Eachoundwater analyzed at the laboratory for the following
ln" sample p recovered was
suite of analytes.
An_ aI34 Method of Anal
Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons EPA Method 8015M
(quantified as Diesel) with silica gel cleanup
,• Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons EPA Method 8260B
(quantified as Gasoline)
Benzene EPA Method 8260B
Toluene EPA Method 8260B
Ethyl benzene EPA Method 8260B
Total Xylene Isomers EPA Method 8260B
{:
sic
