Soil and groundwater in the subsurface beneath the subject <br /> �.. property is known to be contaminated by gasoline and diesel in the form of floating product as well as <br /> in the dissolved phase. Gasoline and diesel may contain fractional components that are known to be <br /> human carcinogens. They also contain compounds that may injure human respiratory, hepatic, renal <br /> fimctions, and the central nervous system. If there is exposure to high concentrations of the vapors of <br /> these fuels for long periods, dermal and eye injuries can also be sustained, especially if contact is <br /> made with the compounds in liquid form or with waste materials that an highly saturated with these <br /> materials. <br /> Specific Health and Safety Requirements: <br /> The work required for this project is not known to involve special hazards beyond those covered by <br /> the standard requirements of The San Joaquin Company Inc.'s Master Health and Safety Plan, <br /> incorporated herein by reference. All work will be conducted in compliance with the applicable <br /> *r policies, safety rules and safe working practices set out in that Master Plan, a copy of which is on file <br /> with SJCEHD.However,for emphasis,the following specific requirements are cited <br /> 4., <br /> Site Control <br /> No visitors, other than workers directly engaged in the work or authorized representatives of the <br /> project engineers,the property owners or regulatory agencies, shall be permitted to enter the properly <br /> while the work is in progress. All visitors shall comply with the applicable requirements of The San <br /> Joaquin Company Inc.'s Master Health and Safety Plan. <br /> All excavations and work areas where heavy equipment is in use will be enclosed by barricades and <br /> caution tape. When work is being performed on, or in close proximity to, public highways, traffic <br /> warning systems and lane closures will be effected by use of hazard cones and will comply with the <br /> site-specific requirements of the San Joaquin County Department of Public Works. <br /> When drill rig operations are m progress, no persons other than those necessary to accomplish the <br /> 4 work will be permitted to approach closer than 25 ft. of the drilling site. <br /> If a trench is excavated and remains open to accommodate extraction of floating product following <br /> L„ the initial day's extraction, it will be cordoned off with traffic barricades and caution tape. If the <br /> trench is open after daylight hours,the traffic barricades will be equipped with flashing yellow lights. <br /> No person will be permitted into any trench or excavation if it is more than 5-ft. deep unless it has <br /> been shored in compliance with the requirements of CalOSHA.NO person shall be permitted to enter <br /> an un-shored trench greater than 2.5 ft deep unless the California licensed Engineer-of-Record,or his <br /> similarity licensed deputy, authorizes the person to do so after personally inspecting the stability of <br /> the trench walls. <br /> No employee shall enter any confuted space without complying fully with the requirements of <br /> �- CalOSHA and The San Joaquin Company Inc.'s Master Health and Safety Plan. <br /> Protective Clothina and LEgmimolt <br /> Based on the.hazards known to be present, personal protective equipment requirements for this <br /> SJC <br />
