Work Plan for Refined Plume Definition and Ma
nagement of FloatingAroduct-7500 W 11th St., Tracy, Cr4. Page 64
ry closed under the permit and oversight of the SJCEHD. A final groundwater-quality
monitoring round using samples recovered from the extraction wells can be performed on the
sane day that the drilling contractor can close all three wells. Thereafter, sample analyses and
a system closure report can be available within 60 days.
9.4.2.6 Cost Estimate
SJC has prepared an engineer's estimate for implementation of a LNAPL removal program
based on suctioning product from extraction wells into a vacuum truck. The estimate is
detailed in Appendix A and is summarized below.
CAPITAL COST
Installation $15,800
(Including final design, well installation
and first round of LNAPL extraction)
Total Estimated Capital Cost
p $15,800
OPERATING COST
Cost Per Round of $ 2,950
Extraction of Emulsified
Floating Product and Groundwater
Total Estimated Operating Cost* $38,350
* I difficult to estimate
Total operating costs for this remediation technology are
because it is not possible to accurately predetermine the number of rounds of
LNAPL extraction that will be required, but from experience at other sites, the
total cost shown is based on the following assumptions: A vacuum truck will be
mobilized to the site weekly for three weeks following the date of the first
LNAPL extraction. The extraction schedule will then fall to once per month for
the next two LNAP extraction rounds and will, finally, be reduced to a quarterly
schedule until the total time elapsed from the first LNAPL extraction is equal to
two years
CLOSURE COST
System Closure Operations $ 7,350
(Including closure of extraction wells,
-t final round of groundwater-quality
monitoring and results reporting.)
SJC
