Lir Work Plan for Refined Plume Definition and Management of Floating Product-7500 W 11th St., Tracy, CA. Page 70
with a bituminous slurry seal coat before any equipment is installed in it. The enclosure will
be surrounded by 6-ft. high chain link fence equipped with a 12-ft wide lockable gate. The
surface equipment enclosure is shown on Figure 15.
9.4.3.3 Air and Discharge Line Conduits
The previously-described air supply lines to, and fluid discharge lines from the skimmer
pump systems in the floating product extraction wells will be placed in 3-in. diameter
Schedule 80 PVC electric conduits that will be buried in trenches connecting the surface
ir... equipment enclosure to the 17 in. by 17 in. square steel well head vault with a 24-in. skirt and
heavy bolted steel covers.
9.4.3.4 Noise Reduction Housing
The 5 hp, compressor that will supply air to the skimmer pump system, when in continuous
+r operation generates noise in the range 85-95 decibels (dB), To comply with the San Joaquin
County Community Plan regulations applicable to noise suppression at semi-permanent
industrial facilities, it will be necessary to enclose the air compressor in a light structure
► designed to reduce noise at the fence line of the surface equipment enclosure to 55 dB. This
noise suppression system is also shown schematically on Figure 16. To provide for adequate
ventilation and cooling of the compressor, the structure will be suitably ventilated and will be
provided with access doors to permit compressor maintenance.
yam, 9.4.3.5 Electrical Power Supply
To provide electrical power to the 5-hp compressor used to activate the pneumatic pumps, it
will be necessary for Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) to install a transformer on the
'-` electrical power pole located near the northwest corner of the intersection of West Eleventh
Street and Chrisman Road so that the voltage can be dropped from that of the transmission
system to that required by the floating product remediation system(i.e., 110 volts ac).
Regulations do not permit direct supply pf electrical power directly from a PG&E-owned
power pole even after the voltage has been reduced by transformers. To provide power to the
equipment enclosure area, it will be necessary to install a "customer's" power pole in the
enclosure and to carry the reduced voltage electricity from the existing PG&E pole to that
supply point.
The electrical supply line will be brought down the new power pole in armored conduits
protected by a steel cover. A power cut-off switch and a waterproof power panel equipped
with the requisite circuit breakers will be mounted on a steel frame located at the bottom of
the pole. Electrical lines rated for outdoor service will carry electricity from the power panel
to the air compressor and other points within the equipment enclosure where it is required.
Should it be necessary to maintain or adjust the skimmer pump recovery system or its
auxiliary system during the hours of darkness, a flood light will be installed at the top of the
system's dedicated power pole and will be operated by means of a switch located at shoulder
height on the power pole.
sic
