Work Plan for Refined Plume Definition and Management of Floating Product-7500 W 11th St., Tracy, CA, Page 79
,. laboratory methods for the detection and quantification of TPH in soil and
groundwater(Zemo 1997a).
By October 2003, samples had been recovered from Monitoring Wells MW-3A, MW-3B and
MW-12A on at least 5 occasions (6 for MW-3A) over a period of 1.5 years, during which
time no analytes of concern were detected in any of the three wells (see Table 2).
Accordingly, to eliminate the continuing risk that the deeper aquifers beneath th
p q e site may
become contaminated via those monitoring wells and to save the unnecessary disbursements
of funds from the USTCF, SJC wishes to restate its strong recommendation that those wells
be closed. The proposed closures can be cost-effectively implemented if they are scheduled
at the same time that the proposed groundwater-quality and floating product monitoring wells
described in Sections 7.0 and 8.0 are installed.
10.2.1 Schedule
u As noted above, the existing monitoring walls will be closed during the same construction
_ period as the proposed new groundwater-quality and floating product monitoring wells will
be installed. That schedule is presented in Section 7.9.
10.2.2 Cost Estimate
The estimated cost of closing selected existing groundwater quality wells is included in the
budget presented in Section 14.1.
SJC
