Report:Groundwater-quality Monitoring—July 27,2004: 7500 West Eleventh Street,Tracy, CA. Page 20
i-s
6.3 Reduction in Scope and Schedule of Groundwater-quality Monitoring Program
i
Fifteen quarterly rounds of groundwater-quality monitoring have now been conducted at
the 7500 West Eleventh Street site. However, their repetition no longer adds significantly
to the technical understanding of the hydrogeologic regime or the characteristics of the
plume of affected groundwater emanating from the site.
To effect an immediate cost savings without loss of any significant technical information,
SJC recommends the following:
• While depth to groundwater measurements continue to be made in
groundwater-quality Monitoring Wells MW-1, MW-S, MW-15 and
MW-17 to assist in construction of groundwater contours, sampling
from those wells should be discontinued following the October 2004
routine sampling round.
f_;` • Following the October 2004 monitoring round, a semi-annual schedule
of groundwater-quality monitoring should be implemented, with one
round being conducted in February and the second in August of each
year.
+::'' :: >, • If, for an reason groundwater-quality monitoring must continue in
Y q tY g
part or all of the existing array of monitoring wells that are screened in
the near-surface aquifer beyond 2005, the schedule for such
monitoring should be reduced to an annual event - in August of each
year.
:1 6.4 Monitoring of Potable Water Quality
In SJC's opinion, the results of analyses of the samples recovered from the array of
designated water supply wells in the neighborhood of the Navarra Site recovered in April
and July 2004 adequately demonstrate that those water supplies have not been affected by
the release of fuel hydrocarbons that occurred at the subject property. If the results of the
>? round of potable water monitoring currently scheduled for late October 2004 are again
negative,we recommend the program be terminated at that time.
IF
I
--ti
sic
i
