NITRATE LOADING STUDY
FFNLS4CHEMICAL AND PHYSICAL PROPERTIES OF THE SOIL
As referenced in the Soil Suitability Study section, the soil chemical and physical properties are
covered in the first four pages of the Phase I Report. Nitrate impact and mitigation within the
indigenous soil environment are discussed on Page 3.
NLS§ 2.0 GROUNDWATER ANALYSIS
Equal depth and elevations are illustrated on groundwater maps published each year by the San
Joaquin County Flood Control and Water Conservation District in their Groundwater Report. To
observe groundwater data over time, five year intervals were chosen over the past 17 years that
reflect both rainy years and drought years. The following Table illustrates the year, depth, and
elevation to establish groundwater directional flow under the property. As noted, wet years in the
mid-to-late 1990s elevated the water table depth, and the recent drought has had the effect of
lowering the water table in comparison to the earlier, wetter years.
TABLE 2
YEAR DEPTH ELEVATION AND FLOW
DIRECTION
Spring 2000 55 ft -25 ft, East-northeast
Spring 2005 68 ft -38 ft, East
Spring 2010 70 ft -35 ft, East-northeast
Spring 2014 68 ft -35 ft, East-northeast
Spring 2015 70 ft -35 ft,Northeast
Fall 2016 80 ft -50 ft,Northeast
In June 2015, Senate Bill 83 amended California Water Code §13752 to allow public access to
Well Completion Reports. However, the law requires the Department of Water Resources to
comply with The Information Practices Act of 1977, redacting personal information from the Well
Completion Reports before making them public. Since there are about 800,000 reports on file with
the Department, it requires a significant effort to redact the personal data from all reports.
Consequently, lithology underlying the property could not be discerned through these well logs.
The EHD no longer has any of these Reports since they are now under the control of DWR.
Page 4 of 11 jj
Chesney Consulting
