SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY
ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH DEPARTMENT
304 East Weber Avenue, 3rd Floor, Stockton, CA 95202-2708
Telephone:(209)468-3420 Fax: (209)464-0138 Web:www.sigov.org/ehd
REQUIREMENTS CHECKLIST COMMENTS
SITE LOCATION: 31717 S CHRISMAN IZD, TRACY PA#: 04-00561
REPORT DATE: 06/08/2005
Section Comments
SSS-1.1 The report presented a slope for the entire parcel. Please provide a description of the topography in the area
anticipated to be used for sewage disposal, as it relates to the suitability for sewage disposal.
SSS-1.4 No detailed site map was included in the report. Provide a detailed site map showing the existing structures,
drives, wells, septic systems, large trees, natural drainage courses, etc.
SSS-3.1 Provide a description of the existing on-site sewage disposal system (likely age, usage, system type, etc.).
sss-a.2 Provide additional discussion on the existing and potential nitrate groundwater contamination issues in the
NLS--2.2;3.1 g p
Y
general area. Specifically, please elaborate on the 28 ppm nitrate upgradient source and the existing and
potential on-site nitrate sources and their cumulative effect on water quality.
SSS-6.1 Distances to percolation test locations were paced out due to rough terrain. To obtain a more precise
measurement for future projects, please consider the use of a measuring tape when a measuring wheel
cannot be used.
556.6.7;8The mathematical recalculation of actual field test results to obtain passing rates is unacceptable. Pursuant
to the San Joaquin County Sewage Standards, a rapid percolation test does not constitute a percolation
F
test"failure". It does, however, require an evaluation on the influence the loading rate will have on future
water quality. In addition, a shallow percolation rate of over 60 minutes per inch may not preclude the
use of a standard system, depending on the evaluation of the deep percolation test results.
Please provide a revised conclusion and recommendation section reflecting an evaluation of
the actual field test results as they relate to the suitability of the sites for septic system usage.
Any future septic system design considerations that vary from standard systems, including
alterations to mitigate nitrate loading, may be considered an engineered/alternative system.
i
i
I
I
i
EHQ 26-03 Page 3 of 3 Sail Suitability Checklist
7/14/2003
